    Job Title: Asia Reporter, Central Banking and FX Week

    Salary: HKD$28,500 - HKD$33,500 per month

    Location: Hong Kong

    Job Description

    The Asia Reporter will report to the London-based News Editor and Editor of Central Banking and Editor of FX Week.

     

    FX Week is the leading source of insider news and analysis on the fast-changing business of foreign exchange. Central Banking is a leading publication covering public policy and financial markets, with an emphasis on central banks, sovereign funds, international financial institutions and financial market infrastructure.

     

    The Asia-Pacific reporter will be responsible for covering major policy decisions, breaking news and writing in-depth, analytical features from across the region, which will appear online, in print and in our new apps for both brands.

     

    The position would suit someone who can demonstrate an interest in financial journalism and wants to develop their career working on well-respected brands. Candidates should be able to build contacts and technical knowledge quickly and write to a high level of accuracy on a complex subject.

     

    Travelling to attend industry conferences or interview market-leading executives is expected.

    Qualifications

    • KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

       

       

      1: Ensuring a regular stream of high-value, exclusive, analytical content – both news and features – which will appear online, in print, and on the app version.

      2: Closely coordinating with other members of the FX Week and Central Banking editorial teams

      3: Developing contacts and speaking to senior executives on a daily basis by phone and in person.

      Knowledge

      Understanding of and interest in capital markets, central banking policy, foreign exchange and sovereign asset management

      Excellent verbal and written communication skills

      Excellent organisational skills

      Ability to prioritise a busy workload

      Ability to build business relationships at all levels

      Ability to manage a high level of confidentiality

      Ability to manage with a dual reporting structure

       

      Experience

      Able to demonstrate an interest in financial journalism – for example, through previous experience, internships.

       

      Qualifications

      Degree level, preferably in economics. Fluency in Chinese, Japanese or another Asian language an advantage
